Sculptural Painting Against Overthinking

There is a longing contained in discarded objects that haunts me, perhaps because I grew up moving a lot and the things I collected from different places and times became the containers of my memories. I practice inspired detachment by creating textures that celebrate intuition and free flow of movement.

I often start a new piece by holding an object over a board and moving it about until it lets me know where it wants to go. This feeling reminds me of playing with a ouija board as a child, except now the mysterious guiding force is pure emotion.

My latest work features expired medication and dietary supplements. As the pills, capsules and powders bind to wax or resin -sometimes joyfully exploding in the process– I envision each piece becoming charged with healing energy.
